 MSDT is the pioneer in developing DD solution which began in year 2003 and is one of the leading solution providers in the DD context. The development of the DD solution is gradual depending on what the objectives are and financial consideration.
The DD solution developed by MSDT has evolved tremendously from the first concept implemented in the Pusat Internet Desa (PID) program. From experience and knowledge gathered through the years as well as the willingness to hear and adopt new approach suggested by the communities, MSDT was able to develop a comprehensive solution which encapsulates detail processes and strategies. Lesson through the years on the ground shows that no matter how comprehensive the solution is, it will need to be implemented in stages to avoid culture shock among the rural communities and at times becomes a buy-in process to ensure success, continuity and sustainability.
The Government of Malaysia through the Ministry of Energy, Water and Communication (MEWC) has adopted and implemented MSD’s DD solution via the implementation of 2 projects specifically: -
- The setting up of 42 Rural Internet Center (RIC) or Pusat Internet Desa (PID) through out the country;
- The setting up of 11 sites known as Pusat Perkhidmatan & Ilmu Komuniti.
- The setting up of 2 Pusat Jalurlebar Komuniti (PJK) in Permatang Pauh, Penang and Tampin, Negri Sembilan
The implementation of the projects entails the following: -
The deployment of the Central Monitoring System; - The setting up of 42 Rural Internet Center (RIC) or Pusat Internet Desa (PID) through out the country;
- The setting up of 11 sites known as Pusat Perkhidmatan & Ilmu Komuniti.
- The setting up of 2 Pusat Jalurlebar Komuniti (PJK) in Permatang Pauh, Penang and Tampin, Negri Sembilan
The implementation of the projects entails the following: - The deployment of the Central Monitoring System; - Provide ICT training to the communities;
- Undertake community participation program;
- Provide advisory and consultancy services on the program to the Government as and when required.
Currently MSDT is in the midst of implementing the Community Broadband Center (CBC) and Community Broadband Library (CBL) throughout the country. A total of 189 sites are involved which would utilized the principal and concept of MSDT DD solution. Under the current program three (3) new elements will be incorporated besides the 4 mentioned above. They are: - - Development of sustainability program;
- Certification program and
- e-Commerce program
